America’s Got Talent I tell ya

June 25th, 2008 · 1 Comment

This week we continue watching auditions of the horrible and the fab. This week we actually have some noteworthy competition in just the auditions!!  Amazing, Down right explosive and amazing performances!! I am so glad too because I was starting to worry that Terry Fator set the bar too high!

Now the acts:

Eli Mattson, 26

singer/songwriter/soul drifter/ (creamed my pants over his voice)

Eli Mattson is my top choice as far as singers go.  I almost feel he should have a blog entry all on his own…like not sure if other acts deserve to be written about next to such an artist of the heart…

He walked out onto the stage looking out in wonder at the audience.  I wonder if he knew…this would be his moment and he was soaking it in.  I want to say he sung, “Walking in Memphis,” He didn’t.  He told us a story in his rich textured voice and we listened.  He played at first with one hand in his pocket, a quiet confidence if I ever saw it.  Then he opened his mouth and this deep beauty was bestowed on us.  I was amazing.. something you can’t find on American Idol!  As Sharon said, “I can’t believe he hasn’t been signed on.”  The Hoff said it was like a young Billy Joel and he was… At the end of the song, both hands went back into his pockets…  I wondered if he realized looking out into the crowd and seeing the standing ovation that his life would be forever changed!  At the end, even the Hoff was giving a standing ovation.  I almost feel honored that I was allowed to watch such a moment in his life!

Btw..I want all of his cds now! I cannot wait to see/hear more from this amazing voice! He is gorgeous inside and out..what a yummy looking man!

Lil Countrie & Page 1ne

street performers from New Orleans

They received a standing ovation before even starting their act.  The talked about surviving Hurricane Katrina in the 9th ward, but who they dedicated their performance to was what got the response.  During the flooding his handicapped uncle locked himself in room to ensure the kids (2,3,5 years old) were saved first… then after that emotional start they began tumbling, flipping, spinning…it was crazy!!!! I couldn’t help but smile.  Although we have seen tumbling before, there were crazy stunts I have never seen before like sliding on their head across the floor and this crazy spinning a guy using just his head to hold him up in the air… amazing!  So glad they had perfect timing and super choreography!!  Piers said it right, “It isn’t about who has the better story, it is about the talent and you thrown the whole competition wide open”  They were amazing, fun, exciting and dynamic!!

Nex II None

ages 15-23 boyband Group

I just wanted to give them an honorable mention.  I can honestly say I have never seen an all black boy band that sings pop not r&b.  They were rough around the edges, but overall… great singing…okay dancing…but lots of potential!

Russian Bar Trio

Acrobats

It is almost indescribable, but I will try.  A bar was held by two guys (on their shoulders) who bounced it parallel to the ground.  A hot sexy woman named christine ran and jumped on top of the 13 foot pole 4 inch wide that  was still parallel  to the floor.  Then the two guys bounced the bar and Christine jumps on it like a trampoline/ balance beam.  She flipped, spinned in the air, crazy leaps that I have never seen before.  Utterly scared she was gonna fall..amazed she didn’t… OUTSTANDING UNIQUE ACT!!!!

btw I loved when the Hoff said it was better than the Olympics and how she could have killed herself on the Xs!

The Taubl Family

Musicians/singers

They did a beautiful strings version of the “Hills Are Alive.”  It was really good arrangement, but a bit boring.  As always, Piers pushed his button right at the moment I am done with them.. but then its like magic.  They started to sing and I was transformed.  I felt like I was watching the real Von Trap singing..telling me it was ok to like musicals again!  I felt happy and content and like all the world’s troubles would disappear forever! *sigh* Overall great job, but not really unique!

btw.. laughed my ass off when the hoff said,”All I could think of was when Piers hit his buzzer, I saw Julie Andrews collapsing in the fields.” Lmao!!!!!

DC Cowboys

Dance Company

Again another honorable mention… as I don’t see them winning.  They danced to “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy.”  They all looked hot in their cowboy getups.  They had pretty good choreography.  The best thing about them was their energy!  It was cheeky and fun!!  I was waiting to see if they were strippers or not through!  I almost felt disappointed nothing came off! Hahaha (Im such a pervert!!)  They weren’t the best dancers, but I still loved it!

btw: brokeback meets broadway…hahahahahahahaha

Kevin “Big K” Taylor, 39

“Speed Brick Breaker”

First off… what a sexy man!!! Anyways, He smashed 1000lbs (400 bricks) of cement blocks while they were on fire… yup… reread if need be..lol.. I said it.. on fire !!!!  He smashed each one, during which he caught his fucking hand on fire while doing it!!!!!! holy fuck! Ouch! Amazing! Jaw dropping! Wow! Enough said!

Joseph Hall, 23

Elvis Impersonator

I know…stop rolling your eyes.. this one wasn’t cheesy. He was believable a young Elvis.  The crowd was wild from excitement from first site. He was yummy looking! Lovely creature!  His dancing was infectious fun!! The best I have seen so far when it comes to Elvis!!!  His voice.. like honey!  Plus he is damn good looking!
