One of the best books I have read. If you are looking for something different yet touches your mind.. this is the book for you! I found it while browsing Waldenbooks and I saw a tag saying Manager’s choice.. so I picked up the book… and it was such an amazing find!!
The Five People you Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom
This book takes you on a journey through the life and afterlife of Eddie, the main character. He is a wonderfully written character! The bases of the book is when you die you meet five people… and they aren’t people you would think it is. Every single character is much different than the other and the book takes you on so many different turns and twists! You actually feel like you are in the book trying to figure it out as he does. The question he keeps asking himself is, “Was my life a heroic success or a devastating failure?” And the answer may surprise you! The best part about the book is anyone of any age could read it and feel inspired. I have given this book as a gift to everyone of my family members and close friends and they have done the same! I even received it as a gift from my cousin! LOL! This is a must have book for all houses! The best part is you don’t have to be religious to enjoy this book (it isn’t that religious other than mentioning heaven and God one time).. the book is about how everyone is connected in the world! It is also about how somethings you may have done in the past effects other people w/o you realising it!
Don’t get scared. I know if you are like me you know the book is always better than the movie, but in this rare occurrence, it is actually pretty damn close to the book. I was pleasantly surprised that after reading the book, my imagination and the cinematographer’s was the same. I was surprised to find that they stuck with the story line, all of the actors brought the characters alive, and the special effects didn’t down play the message! I highly recommend this movie and it should be in your DVD collection! I also recommend reading the book first, but if you don’t have time and you stumble across it.. check it out! Don’t forget to break out the face tissues and be prepared to have your mind thinking about it for days! I almost forgot to mention the actors/actresses are Jon Voight, Ellen Burstyn, Jeff Daniels, and Micheal Imperioli.
